Equipment

Your choice of fiber cable testing equipment will also depend on: Fiber type (single-mode, multimode), required test wavelengths, test volume, connector type, and any two-way loss test requirement. Compliance also requires appropriate test procedures.

These handheld instruments and test kits meet the standard requirements for testing and certifying multimode and single mode fiber cabling.

User Manuals and Equipment Training

Multimode Loss Test Equipment

Instruments with 850 / 1300 nm LED source, Category 1 compliant. The required mandrel wraps are supplied as standard. These instruments can also test 1300 nm single-mode systems with up to 10 dB loss.

Basic: suitable for low volume or occasional use. The instruments can be locked by a supervisor to a particular wavelength.

Polarity / Continuity Test Equipment

Any of the Loss Test Equipment can perform continuity / polarity testing using test tones.

If multiple sources are available, they can perform polarity testing on 12 fibers at a time using MultiFiber ID.

Loss Test Instruments fitted with either a VFL or VisiTester can perform quick visual testing.

Alternatively a Visual Fault Locator pen KI6350 can be used.

All Kingfisher visible lasers conform to current laser safety standards.

Connector Inspection Equipment

FiberSafe Connector Inspection Microscope KI6610 (x200) / KI6611 (x400) with required connector adaptors and OPT684 digital camera.

FiberTester Kits

Many of our FiberTester kits contain the above equipment.
Most popular for this application are the clean / inspect / test kits: TK037, TK071A

Connector Summary

Connector styles

All Kingfisher Tier 1 equipment has interchangeable connectors SC, LC, ST, universal 1.25, 2.5 mm etc, or additional connectors as stated.

PC/APC Connectors

All power meter ports handle both PC and APC connectors. All light source ports and microscope adaptors are specified as PC or APC at time of ordering.

Duplex LC / SC Connectors

All power meter ports & microscopes handle duplex connectors using the relevant universal connector adaptor.

MPO/MTP Connectors

XL series power meters, and KI6100 series microscope.
